Butternut

Butternut squash flower

Scarlet emperor flowers

Scarlet emperor runner bean flower

On the right hand side, is the flower that appeared on the butternut squash. It's quite big really, given the size of the fruit. What I am not sure about, is whether or not it needs to be assisted by the male flower.

The male flowers, whilst there are many, are yet to open. The one that I did pluck off, was empty on the inside. Perhaps as this is an F1 hybrid, the whole assisted pollination may not be necessary.

On the top left, are the flowers on the runner beans. There has been a few days of warm weather, and the number of these flowers has increased. All the lower levels of the towering beans is filled with these reddy orange flowers.

Pea pod

On the right hand side, these alien looking creatures are pea pods. Each pair of flowers, is the pod. And you know the adage, of two peas in a pod, well, here you go. All being well, these should fill out and up with some peas.

Aubergine flower

The aubergine really doesn't like the erratic Blighty weather. The flower has been there for a while, but it is only just starting to peek out.

Early harvest

fresh out the dirt: beetroots, carrots and bolted onions

On the right are paris market carrots, bolted onions from Jamie's Crate and Boltardy Beetroot. Are really quite hobbit sized, and i think next time, I will try normal, average sized carrots.
